Gingivitis and Bleeding Gums
Gingivitis is a form of gum disease that occurs when dental plaque accumulates on tooth surface and causes inflammation of surrounding gum tissues.
Common Symptoms
Symptoms of gingivitis include :
- red and puffy gums
- swollen gums
- bleeding while brushing
- bad breath
- tooth pain or sensitivity
Line of management
- Brushing for at least 2 minutes, two times a day are daily hygiene measures to prevent development of plaque and gingivitis.
- Treatment and prevention of gingivitis includes removal of plaque from teeth and gums. Tooth deposits (tartar/calculus) can only be removed by professional cleaning.
