Health camps for generating awareness and screening for major non-communicable diseases were organized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI at the India International Trade Fair, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Seven health camps were set up to screen for common cancers, CVDs, hypertension and oral health. The oral health screening camps were set up in collaboration with CDER, AIIMS and Dental Department, Lady Hardinge Medical College. Oral health awareness was generated through pamphlets, badges, videos etc.

“Oral health is an integral part of general health” stands as the centrepiece of the Video with a young child as the message giver. Applying a life course approach to oral health care, Munni, a young girl playing the role of a dentist emphasises maintenance of good oral hygiene throughout life.
The TV Commercial 'Swasthya Munh Hai Sehat Ka Aadhar' captures all the age groups in interesting contexts. The ASHA Worker explains that the oral cavity is the mirror of the body. She then highlights that if oral hygiene is ignored then there is a tendency to develop pyorrhoea due to plaque accumulation which when noticed in
- Expectant mothers can lead to preterm birth and low birth weight of the new born;
- Diabetics, poor glucose control and also Increases the chance of developing cardio vascular diseases and stroke.
Thus oral health has an impact on overall health and well being.
The entire TV commercial was shot over a span of 2 days in the outdoor location of Mumbai.
National Review Workshop for SNO's
Date: 15-02-2016 to 17-02-2016 Venue: Centre for Dental Education and Research (CDER), AIIMS, New Delhi.
CDER, AIIMS being the National Centre of Excellence for National Oral Health Programme, a training was organized for State Nodal Officers (SNO) under National Oral Health Programme in Collaboration with National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Munirka, New Delhi.
The primary objective of this 3 day training was to give an overview about programme management to the SNOs from various states.
Apart from didactic lectures and group discussions, there were open sessions for participants to take the inputs on programme priorities and plan of action.
The training program was attended by State Nodal officers under National Oral Health Program from variour states/UTs, representatives from DteGHS, MoHFW, CDER-AIIMS and NIHFW.
